Policy Guidelines for Grid-Connected Roof-top Solar Scheme for Kolkata

AIREC has recently prepared Guidelines and Detailed Technical Report for Grid-connected Roof-top Solar Policy for Kolkata, Salt Lake and New Town. The Policy has been prepared for the Department of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of WB & KMC and is a part of the Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Roadmap for Kolkata, which is underway with technical assistance from the UK Government.

 

The guidelines developed by AIREC are unique with specific target and incentives based on generation. The draft guidelines were prepared after intense consultations with a wide range of stakeholders such as solar experts, industry representative, policy maker, electricity distribution companies, financial institutions and banks, state nodal agency, researchers, academicians and consumers of various categories. A public hearing on the draft guidelines was also organized by the Hon’ble Minister, Department of Power & Non-Conventional Energy Sources.

The final policy guidelines have been submitted to the Department of Power & Non-Conventional Energy Sources and are soon to be announced by the Government of WB. Capacity building and sensitization meetings for engineers, policy makers, power utilities, municipal bodies as well as people’s representatives (MLAs) have also been conducted by AIREC.
