Renewable energy for rural livelihoods
Renewable Energy-based Technology Packages for Rural Livelihoods
Rural livelihood activities are characterized by low productivity and low unreliable income. Access to reliable energy can considerably enhance rural productivity and income, and DRE options have tremendous potential. With the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and in partnership with Greentech Knowledge Solutions, the Collective has developed Renewable Energy technology packages for important rural livelihood sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, poultry, fisheries, bamboo, food processing, and weaving. The technology packages being considered span numerous applications, including water pumping, institutional cooking, aeration of ponds, drying of fish spices, refrigeration of horticultural produce, lighting, and powering of small machines.
